Asiatic cholera is an epidemic disease which became pandemic in the 19th century, attacking nearly every major country. Asiatic cholera, a highly infectious disease caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae, has plagued human societies for centuries. During the 19th century, the disease spread rapidly across the world, causing numerous epidemics that resulted in widespread illness and death. In response to the outbreak of cholera, medical professionals and researchers began to investigate the disease and its causes, and sought to develop treatments and preventative measures to contain its spread.
