Thomas Master M.A. Wills


Thomas Master's Will was signed on Wednesday the 23rd September 1693, and was proved at Lichfield on the 22nd May 1696.

    001   In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Masters Rector of
    002   Tatenhill in the County of Stafford being in tolerate health, &
    003   Perfect memory I praise God, yet not knowing how soon my
    004   Lord God may summon me out of this world I do on this
    005   Twenty third of September 1693 make this my last will
    006   & Testament as followeth.
    007   Imp. I Commit my soul into the hands of my blessed Saviour
    008   Jesus Christ, trusting in him alone thro his merits to make
    009   my peace with God the Father, in whom I hope for Salvation
    010   2. As to the smale? estate wich my gracious God have given me I
    011   dispose of it as follows,
    012   1 I give & bequeath to the poor of Barton five pounds.
    013   2 I give & bequeath to the poor of Dunstall fifty shillings.
    014   3. I give & bequeath to the poor of Tattenhill & Callings Wood fifty shillings.
    015   4 I give & bequeath to my brother in law Mr Reay David
    016   Pareus commentary on the scriptures in 2 volumes.
    017   5. All my other Goods & chattles & my Copic? hold? estate I
    018   give and bequeath to my dear & loving wife, after my debts &
    019   funeral charges are discharged.
    020   I shall forbear to give any more leagacies being uncertain
    021   how my esate may arise? for the maintenance of my dear wife
    022   only I would desire at her death to be as bountiful as
    023   prudently she can to my dear Grandchildren & in her lifetime
    024   to be as kind as she can to my distressed Sister Browne.
    025   Lastly I do constitute & appoint my dear & loving wife Execu
    026   trix & my Son Francis Masters of London & my loving
    027   Brother in Law John Reay preacher of the Gospel at Long
    028   Clawson in Leciestershire Excutors of this my last will & testament.
    029   Given under my hand & seal the day & year above written
