Note the mention of Sarah Ann Steatham (1862-1926), who died unmarried. She was 51 at the date of signing the will and was the daughter of Philemon Steatham (1842-1913), who was the son of Joseph Steatham (1806-1889) - the 2nd born of Roberts surviving children.

Sarah Ann had been left 30 in the will, which was huge sum in those days. Now Sarah was buried first with her brother Robert Steatham (1862-1928), it may well be that the gravestone was paid for by Sarah. It explains why Robert who was only a "Stamper in the Lock Trade" could afford a memorial headstone.    All Rights Reserved.
