George Steatham (1885-1917) George Steatham, born 1885, died in 1917. He is the only Steatham to have died as a result of his World War I service. He also is the only Steatham to have is name mis-spelt (Streatham) on his gravestone! Read how I have contacted the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to get this obvious mistake corrected. Gervase Lee Steatham's (1904-1980) Gervase Lee was the only son of Gervase Steatham (1875-1957), who was a son of Josiah Steatham (1842-1920), who moved from Willenhall to Derby to found the Derby Steathams as I call them. Gervase Lee Steatham served in WW2 and had a dramatic escape from Dunkirk on the last day of the evacuation. Click here to read Gervase Lee Steatham's story. |
